To test, check for continuity in both directions by placing one meter lead on the diode cable and the other on the diode stud and then switch leads. There are two different polarities and you will have to isolate (unhook them) to test and will need to test them all.ĭo you have a mutli-meter? If not you'll need one to test them and preferably one with a diode test setting. ![]() Seeing as you're unsure of what to look maybe for the best way to track them down is to start at the weld output studs and trace the large output cables back thru the polarity switch and choke (looks like a transformer on the 'WORK' lead circuit) to the rectifier assembly where you'll find your output diodes. If these are what you're looking for, they will be mounted on aluminum heatsink plates and have the large weld output cables attached. I take it you're referring to the weld output diodes? Why do you feel you need to check them?
